I am an interdisciplinary artist concerned with how language, politics, and psychological discourses shape the body. Where systems of knowledge tend to shape our idea of what the body is or should be, I’m interested in examining how we understand the body and finding new ways to articulate it. I’m drawn to abstract forms and material processes that resist easy categorization. Inspired by an upbringing immersed in art and craft, I seek to confuse “high” and “low” forms of making, especially where those conventions still exist in today’s art world. My work references concepts from psychoanalysis, gender and labor politics, and the history of craft.
